With social justice politics taking over more and more of the public discourse, I thought it would be funny to make a little set of social-justice-themed Valentine’s Day cards. I figured the social justice crowd could handle a bit of jocular prodding, and (of course) I figured conservatives would enjoy laughing at them too.

As it turned out, conservatives thought they were serious (and therefore didn’t like them), and liberals enjoyed them a little more than I expected.

Although I had originally intended to post them as a set of images, it occurred to me partway through that it might be fun to try making physical cards and set up an Etsy store. So I did. I called it “Nothing Spectacular” and even made a little logo for it (pictured below). I was running behind, so the store went up with only a day or two left where people could order in time for Valentine’s Day. But I did get a couple sales and one 5-star review, which to me justified the whole endeavour.
